Learning Resources, a leader in educational toys that prepares the students of tomorrow, is unveiling the latest generation of their 100% screen-free coding robot for kids, Botley 2.0, at ShowStoppers during CES 2020. The original Botley was released in 2018 and received numerous awards including the Toy Association’s 2019 Innovative Toy of the Year Award and 2018 National Parenting Products Award. Botley 2.0 is bringing all-new tricks and functions to the world of screen-free coding with even more intelligence and personality. With Botley 2.0, kids aged 5+ will enjoy endless STEM fun while learning hands-on coding and critical thinking skills without the need for a phone or tablet. This includes coding their way through obstacle courses with sequences of up to 150 coding steps, exploring multiple ways to code using lights, color and motion, or play a game utilizing Botley 2.0’s LED light sensor that makes his eyes light up when in the dark, creating a whole new interactive play experience.

What else makes Botley 2.0 the go-to coding robot for 2020? The brand new six-direction remote programmer allows kids to control Botley’s movement as he rolls back, forth, and now diagonally as well. It also includes interactive features, like a “Botley Says” game and secret codes to program a colorful light show with Botley’s light sensor, or turn Botley into a train, ghost, police car and more. Botley 2.0’s slew of hilariously cute sound effects add personality to every coding challenge, game, or lesson, transforming playtime into a fun, interactive coding experience that can be shared with friends. Using up to four Botley 2.0s in one room, siblings, friends or students can conduct multiplayer races and competitions, perfect for larger families and classroom activities.

“With the popularity of our original Botley and the many accolades it received, it became evident to us that no other innovation explores the world of screen-free coding like this unique robot. The decision to build on that success and provide an even more interactive experience for children was a no-brainer once we witnessed the positive impact it had on preparing kids for academic success,” said Marie LaPlante, Chief Marketing Officer of Learning Resources. “Botley 2.0 will not only bring happiness and fun, but will also provide unique areas of hands-on learning to help enhance critical thinking skills, inspire creativity, and more.”

Botley 2.0 will be available in different sets for purchase starting in April 2020 for a suggested retail price of $64.99-$84.99 (depending on the set). Botley 2.0 is for kids 5 and older, features a 78-piece playset that includes detachable robotic arms, a second pair of colored frames for Botley, and many other accessories that add to the customizable fun.
